The Peavey Invective was developed in collaboration with Misha Mansoor - a powerful 120 watt tube powerhouse with a plethora of features. Now comes the second stroke: the Invective MH - a mini amp in compact lunchbox format. The all tube mini amp delivers 20 watts of output power, which can be reduced to 5 or even 1 watt if required. 2 channels are available: the clean channel is optimized for use with pedalboards, the high gain channel is based on Peaveys Mega Seller 6505. A switchable booster in TS style adds the obligatory scoop of gain to the high gain channel. The Invective MH can also be used as a recording amp: a balanced XLR output with speaker simulation and an internal dummy load in conjunction with the USB interface allow stress-free silent recording.

Zunächst muss ich sagen, dass dieser ist für mich der best gelungene Peavey Amp bisher. Der große Bruder, der 120 Watt Version habe ich nicht ausprobiert, aber den 5150, 6505 und 6505 MH kenne ich und alle dieser Verstärker halte ich für spitze, besonders für metal. Über den Clean Kanal kann man nicht viel sagen, er ist sehr klar und schön dass er extra EQ hat, allerdings fehlt der Volume Regler, d.h., die gesamtlautstärke dieses Kanals ist nur mit dem Gain Poti regelbar. Der Charakter der Verzerrung im Lead Kanal ist für mein Geschmack zu "fuzzy" oder "haarig", wie ich es gerne bezeichne, ABER der "tight" Schalter macht irgendwas, was ich bei anderen Peaveys noch nicht gesehen habe, nämlich vermindert den Gain. Diesen Klang finde ich richtig spitze und für rock und punk perfekt geeignet. Aber nur für diesen Klang würde ich diesen Verstärker noch nicht kaufen und das war ein Grund, warum ich ihn letztendlich zurückgeschickt habe. Das andere und zwar größere Problem ist der XLR Line Ausgang, aus der nur ein integrierter "frequency compensated", also Lautsprecher-simulierter Tone rauskommt, den man nicht ausschalten kann, um externe Lautsprecher "Impulse Responses" zu benutzen. Also wenn man den Vor- und Endstufenklang dieses Amps mit eigenen IRs benutzen will, braucht man dazu einen externen Loadbox, was natürlich ziemlich blöd ist, denn dieser Amp hat ein integriertes Loadbox. Deshalb kriegt dieser sonst ziemlich guter Amp nur 3 Sterne für die Ausstattung. Als Fazit kann ich selbst sagen, dass dieser Verstärker für die Peavey-Metal-Verzerrung Fans, die perfekte Lunchbox-Amp sein mag, aber für diejenige, die auch mit IRs arbeiten wollen, gibt es zahlreiche andere Verstärker, die dafür bessere Austattung haben.
