The company C.F. Martin & Co., or simply Martin Guitars, can look back on a long company tradition and several innovative inventions. Chief among these is the development of the dreadnought shape and thus the steel‑string acoustic guitar as we know it today. With this, the family business, which spans over 175 years, has shaped the music world to this day. Innovations introduced by Martin that became standard in guitar making also include guitars with 14 frets clear of the body as well as X‑bracing. This allows greater stability and load-bearing capacity of the top (soundboard) thanks to strips glued to the inside of the top. To this day Martin guitars are renowned for their high quality and, of course, for their tone, and are very popular among guitarists. The name of the US company Martin Guitars, actually C.F. Martin & Co., Inc., has stood for the highest quality and innovation in the construction of stringed instruments since 1833. When people think of Martin they immediately think of the acoustic guitar, since the company founder and German emigrant Christian Friedrich Martin gave the instruments the form we still know and appreciate today. Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.

Diese Gitarre ist handwerklich exzellent verarbeitet, sehr schön und hat erstmalig außerhalb der Custom Shop Modelle keine Bindings mehr aus weißem Plastik, sondern sehr schöne aus hellem Ahorn-Holz. Trotz ihrer Kleinheit und Anschmiegsamkeit besitzt die Gitarre einen ausgewogenen Klang mit Brillianz in den Höhen, sowie vor allem satten Mitten und auch durchaus kräftigen Bässen, letztere allerdings erst nach Wechsel auf Elixir PB Nanoweb 12-er Saiten. Das Gesamtklangvolumen ist bei einer 000-28 jedoch spürbar deutlich kleiner und intimer im Vergleich zu einer Dreadnought oder Jumbo oder zu einer Martin-0000. Zugute kommt das zum Beispiel der haltungstechnisch und klanglich sehr bequemen Gesangsbegleitung oder dem Blues-Spiel, z.B. unverstärkt auf dem Sofa, für das die 000-28 Bauart wegen der geringeren Saitenspannung aufgrund der kürzeren Mensur prädestiniert ist. Wer aber ein breiteres Stringspacing am Schallloch, ein unverstärkt lauteres Volumen oder im Vergleich zu den Mitten noch etwas mehr Höhen- und noch etwas mehr Bass-Boost benötigt, der ist mit den oben genannten Alternativmodellen oder einer OM-28 mit einer längeren Mensur möglicherweise noch besser bedient. Da sollte man sich im Vorfeld informieren und Modell-Vergleiche auf Youtube anschauen. Ich bin insgesamt sehr zufrieden mit der Beratung und Detail-Präsentation durch den Shop mittels hochaufösender Fotos des angebotenen Instrumentes in der Gallerie vor dem Kauf. Gerne wieder.
