The compact size of the Orchestra, also known as OM, is perfect for players with a smaller body or for those seeking comfortable play. With a bright, strong emphasis on the upper mids it is better suited to fingerpicking than to strumming, which often requires more low end. The venetian cutaway on this model allows easy access to the upper frets.
Sitka spruce provides an ideal balance of stiffness and flexibility and is therefore the most popular choice for acoustic guitar tops. As a guitar top, Sitka spruce is the modern-day standard tonewood. The combination of stiffness and elasticity yields a wide dynamic range that enables clear articulation.
Using a special process called ATV (Aged To Vintage), Cort's luthiers treat the solid Sitka spruce top and bracing to produce a full, open tone reminiscent of a decades-old acoustic guitar. This torrefaction process delivers that remarkable tone straight out of the box and makes the guitar more stable in tuning and increasingly resonant over time.
