The Ibanez PIA3761 in detail
About Steve Vai
Steve Vai needs no real introduction; he should be familiar to every ambitious electric guitarist. Whether with his legendary work as Frank Zappa's guitarist for special sounds and solos, in his time alongside Whitesnake and David Lee Roth, through contributions to various soundtracks and an extremely successful solo career, the New York-born Steve Vai (born 1960) has redefined the boundaries of the electric guitar - if there are any for him at all. Even today Steve is fully active and shies away from no musical challenge. From his collaboration with Ibanez some of the most successful signature guitars of all time have been created.
The successor to the JEM
The Ibanez PIA3761 is the successor and further development of the popular JEM, which is also a Steve Vai signature model. At first glance the two models look very similar. The PIA adopts the Modern ST alder body, the HSH pickup configuration, and the Floyd Rose vibrato system. The finer details differ, however, such as the "handle" inspired by the Yin and Yang symbol, the pickups' design and the PIA Blossom fretboard inlay inspired by the Tree of Life inlay, or the magnetic backplate — something no other electric guitar has had before. In the video on the right Steve himself personally explains the key features of his signature guitar to you.

Top-class Steve Vai signature guitar
The Ibanez Steve Vai PIA3761 was developed in collaboration with Steve Vai and is a versatile, powerful solid-body electric guitar. It features a balanced sounding alder body - the tonal basis for some of the most enduring pieces of contemporary music. Enjoy super-fast playability thanks to a 5-piece PIA neck with Ibanez' Prestige free-end treatment, while DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups deliver maximum punch and power. An edge tremolo offers twisting, bending and dive-bombing with reliable intonation. The PIA3761 features Steve Vai's trademark features, including a redesigned Monkey Grip and an eye-catching PIA Blossom fingerboard inlay.
Effortless playability with the fastest neck in the business
The Steve Vai PIA3761's 5-piece PIA neck is one of Ibanez's fastest necks. With this slim and super comfortable neck, you can pull off lightning fast runs and arpeggios with ease, but you'll still have the substance you need to fret chords when you need to. What's more, the PIA3761 has been treated with Ibanez Prestige. This essentially rounds off the edges of the frets, making the fingerboard of the PIA3761 feel even more fluid. The first time you put your hands on the PIA3761 neck, you know you have a guitar that's built to perform.
A trio of DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups gives you an enormous tonal range The HSH configuration has been a long-time favourite among tone seekers, and that preference led to the trio of UtoPIA killer pickups featured on the Steve Vai PIA3761. The neck humbucker provides a warmer, richer sound, while the bridge humbucker is a brilliant lead pickup: lively and growling with an enhanced midrange output when you push it. In between, you get a powerful single-coil that delivers traditional spank-n-sparkle on its own and plays well with the humbuckers in blade positions two and four. If you're looking for maximum tone strength, the PIA3761 gives your amp what you need.
Edge tremolo for precise tuning stability
The edge tremolo of the Steve Vai PIA3761 was developed by Ibanez to give you the quick response and punch you need. The extreme stability of the locking groove of this razor-sharp trem is also one of the many reasons why it's a favourite with many of today's top shredders. And thanks to Lion's Claw's tremolo cavity, you can bend notes to extremes and back again with incredible precision.

The Japanese instrument maker Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass construction. Although Ibanez initially made a name for itself with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from makers like Gibson and Fender, its own series gradually emerged, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s the company became particularly well known in the heavy sector with instruments that stood out for their modern features, distinctive design and excellent playability. Innovations such as 7- and 8-string guitars, born from fruitful collaborations with artists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, further helped to establish Ibanez's strong reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, from entry-level guitars and basses to exotic Custom Shop models. In addition, Ibanez also impresses in the field of effects and amplifiers, as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. Here you'll find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
