Guild D-55E
The D-55, which was first introduced in 1968 as a top-of-the-line special order model, was so popular that Guild added it to the regular production line in 1974. Famously played by Tommy Smothers on the Smothers Brothers Show in the 1960s, it gained popularity and longevity over the decades and found a home in the hands of more contemporary artists such as Waylon Jennings, Billie Joe Armstrong, and David Nail. As the most anticipated return of a Guild acoustic yet, the D-55 is back from 2017 and better than ever. The D-55 remains true to all the premium features of its 1968 predecessor, including an AAA Sitka spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and nitrocellulose finish. Internal refinements include serrated Adirondack bracing and an improved dove-tail neck joint, making this generation of the D-55 the lightest, loudest and best-sounding instrument ever.
