Andreas Cuntz began in 1994, after finishing secondary school, a training as a luthier specialising in plucked instruments at the renowned vocational school for violin makers and makers of plucked instruments in Mittenwald. He specialised in acoustic guitars and soon built his first prototypes to his own designs. After passing his journeyman's examination he opened his first workshop in Groß-Rohrheim. In addition to building his own Cuntz CWG23 models, he carried out repairs of all kinds on acoustic and electric guitars and basses for customers.
In 1999 Andreas also passed the master craftsman examination with his own model, the CWG23 12-String. This guitar was designed so that all strings run in a straight line from the tuners to the nut. This construction became Andreas's trademark. At the beginning of the new millennium a dedicated website for Cuntz guitars was launched and the headstock logo, as it can still be seen on Andreas Cuntz's guitars today, was introduced.
In 2006 Cuntz took part in the Frankfurt Musikmesse for the first time – and with great success. Many dealers and artists noticed the small German company and its extraordinary guitar and bass designs. Numerous professional artists have since become enthusiastic about Cuntz guitars and play them on stage and in the studio. Endorsers of Cuntz include, among others, Steve Lukather (Toto), Nathan East (Toto, Eric Clapton Band, u.a.), Mike Dawes and Misha Mansoor.
In 2022 Cuntz celebrated its 25th company anniversary with its master guitars and continues to enjoy great popularity among guitar connoisseurs. At session you'll find a small but select range of different Cuntz guitars.
