NEXT GENERATION STANDALONE MPC KEYBOARD SYNTHESIZER FOR SAMPLING AND SEQUENCING

The MPC Key 37 G2 is a standalone sampler and production keyboard synthesizer based on the MPC3 operating system, featuring an intuitive 7-inch multi-touch colour display and a 37-key keyboard with pitch and mod wheels. It gives artists everything they need to play, produce and perform without a computer. Designed for the next generation of beatmakers, producers and musicians, the MPC Key 37 G2 combines the legendary MPC pads and sequencer workflow with modern computing power in an all-in-one production centre.

FOUR TIMES THE PROCESSING POWER

Powered by a next-generation G2 eight-core processor, the MPC Key 37 G2 offers four times the processing power of the first-generation MPC Key 37. The improved CPU performance enables faster project loading, up to 32 plugin instances, 16 audio tracks, Stems Pro support, Super Timestretch and a responsive workflow built for modern music production. With 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, all the instruments, sounds, kits and projects users need are ready when inspiration strikes. The MPC3-optimised system introduces disk streaming, a one-to-one track model and an Arrange mode for flexible, reliable performance.

POWERFUL, RESPONSIVE AND BUILT FOR MODERN PRODUCTION

While designed for seamless standalone operation, the MPC Key 37 G2 also allows producers to expand their setup at any time. Two MIDI inputs and outputs provide convenient integration with hardware instruments, and the USB-C connection enables streaming of up to 24 audio tracks to and from a computer, direct connection to Ableton Live Control Mode and easy import/export of Ableton projects. The MPC Key 37 G2 is packed with updated factory content – from classic drum machine sounds to melodic loops – for users to explore immediately. Powerful, responsive and built for modern production: this MPC gives beatmakers and producers everything they need to create and perform with confidence.

AKAI PROFESSIONAL

The music division of AKAI PROFESSIONAL became known for its S/Z series samplers. Some will recognise the rack samplers S612, S900 through to S6000, Z4 and Z8. More decisive and influential for generations, however, were the models of the MPC series – originally called the MIDI Production Center.

MPC – the birth of a legend

Today MPC stands for Music Production Center. The concept of these workstations has endured: an instrument that combines sampling with a sequencer. American designer Roger Linn developed the MPC-60 with AKAI PROFESSIONAL. The model was released on 8 December 1988 and cost $5,000. Further developments followed with the MPC-60 MKII and the MPC-3000 in 1994. Producers and DJs swore by the unmistakable sound and the unique MPC groove. The units became mythical. Roger Linn ended his collaboration with AKAI PROFESSIONAL. In 1997 the MPC-2000 (XL) hit the market, followed by the MPC-1000, the 2500 and the flagship MPC-4000. To provide a similar workflow for computer-based music production, AKAI PROFESSIONAL expanded their product range with controllers such as the MPD16, MPD24, MPK49, APC40, and MPD218 MPD232.

The Music Production Center today

The current MPC models go by names like Touch, Studio Black, One, Live and X. What they all share are the legendary 16 pads for inputting beats and melodies. The units now also feature touch-sensitive displays. Slicing and editing becomes child’s play! The standalone units offer variable core sounds and different control options as well as a variety of connections depending on the size.

What products does AKAI PROFESSIONAL offer?

Besides the famous MPC models, AKAI PROFESSIONAL offers numerous MIDI controllers as master keyboards or pad versions. Whether in mini or full-size key formats, there is a large selection of keyboard controllers. If the supplied sound selection isn't enough, countless expansion packs can provide additional ideas. Not into hardware? With software solutions for PC and mobile devices, AKAI PROFESSIONAL leaves nothing to be desired and offers everyone a suitable tool for producing. In the area of electronic wind instruments, AKAI PROFESSIONAL offers the EWI series from their own range. Even though this product group is far from the core assortment, it demonstrates the company's inventiveness and innovative capability.
