Product information "Roland SPD-30 Octapad"
Unlike the original Octapad PAD-8, which was a MIDI controller, the Roland Octapad SPD-30 is a controller that contains an internal bank of sounds. Fifty kits plus effects are built into the SPD-30. Over 600 drum and percussion sounds arranged in 50 kits. Customize the sounds with the onboard controls for tuning, muffling, attack, and pitch sweep. Features include eight large touch-sensitive pads, an easy-to-use interface, a hi-hat controller, a Phrase Loop function, and USB connectivity.
Having a Roland Octopad is like having a van of customizable drum and percussion instruments in one portable package. The Octapad's multi-effects engine has 30 types of internal multi-effects onboard, plus EQ, limiter, and seven ambiance types. The onboard Phrase Loop function lets you instantly create layered loops and phrases. Record and store 50 phrases internally, with each containing up to three layers. Save your phrase data on your USB Memory.
The SPD-30 Octopad features Roland's most advanced V-Drum triggering technology where each pad is a separate, isolated unit, providing sensitivity with crosstalk rejection. Connect four dual-trigger inputs plus a hi-hat controller (compatible with Roland FD-8, VH-11) to create a mini drum set with external pads (Roland KD/PD/PDX/CY series), as well as to accept triggers from acoustic drums through Roland's RT series.

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.
