Inside the Neumann TLM 102 is a newly developed large-diaphragm capsule that, with a maximum sound pressure level of 144 dB, also permits the recording of drums, percussion, amps and other very loud sound sources. Less extreme instruments also benefit from the Neumann TLM 102's very fast transient response. The main area of application for the Neumann TLM 102 is vocals and speech, where a slight lift above 6 kHz delivers excellent presence for the voice in the overall mix. Up to that point the frequency response is remarkably linear, guaranteeing minimal coloration and a very clearly defined bass region. The capsule of the Neumann TLM 102 is elastically mounted to reduce structure-borne noise, and an integrated pop shield in the grille suppresses plosives for vocal or speech recordings. Due to its versatile range of uses and its price, the Neumann TLM 102 is ideal for the home-recording and project-studio sector, but also for broadcast applications, especially where unobstructed sightlines to the presenters are important.
