With standard vocal microphones, you have to make sure you're at the right distance from the microphone and ideally not moving. This is because when you move towards microphones, the sound becomes louder and, due to the proximity effect (except with omnidirectional microphones), bassier and even booming. If you increase the distance to the microphone, the level drops and the sound becomes bassier and thinner. This is now a thing of the past! AURA uses sensors to dynamically adjust the level and sound depending on the distance to the RAY. This gives you freedom of movement when recording and allows you to fully immerse yourself in your performance. In addition to music productions and vocal recordings, this is extremely helpful when creating podcasts, content and live streaming.
In addition to the AURA technology, RAY also offers the new "MUTE by Distance" function. You set a preferred distance at which RAY automatically mutes or cancels the signal. This means you can move away from your desk or your recording situation at any time without having to worry about muting. RAY is automatically reactivated as soon as you come within the set distance of the microphone. In addition to the "MUTE by Distance" function, RAY also has a MUTE button with visual feedback on board, which can also be used for muting.
If you disregard AURA, "MUTE by Distance" and the MUTE button, RAY is still an excellent sounding microphone for the price.
