Outstanding sound for a small budget
The OC16 is another microphone from Austrian Audio's "Open Acoustic" large diaphragm series and, thanks to the CKR6 ceramic capsule, has the same capsule as the OC818, limited to cardioid characteristic - just like the OC18. While the OC818 and OC18 are completely handmade in Austria and each of these microphones together make a matched pair (OC818 cardioid), only the capsule of the OC16 is made in Austria and there is no need for a matched pair here. The simple application with a 40/160 Hz high-pass filter and a spider specially adapted for the OC 16 otherwise make the microphone an all-rounder in the studio, with the outstanding capsule of its larger siblings. Whether vocals, instruments or ambience - there are numerous areas of application for the OC 16 that are just waiting to be tried out.
