Product information "Shure SM7dB"
The SM7dB is a dynamic vocal and speech microphone with a cardioid polar pattern and a specially Shure‑designed integrated preamplifier that delivers up to +28 dB of gain with low self‑noise, a linear frequency response and a transparent sound – ideal for interfaces with lower gain and for a simple setup. Perfect for warm and natural vocal and studio recordings. The preamp bypass switch, adjustable bass roll‑off and presence boost, electromagnetic hum shielding, internal shock absorber and external windscreen ensure clear and consistent audio reproduction.
Legendary sound
The SM7dB delivers the familiar warm tone appreciated by singers and content creators alike. Shure has developed the sonic character of the mic inspired by the SM7B.
Integrated preamp
The SM7dB features a Shure‑designed preamplifier that provides the appropriate output level for any XLR interface. The integrated active preamp offers low‑noise, linear, transparent gain of up to +28 dB with a linear frequency response for a transparent sound. You only need an audio interface or mixer that provides the phantom power required to run the preamp.
Gain levels
Choose a gain of +18 dB or +28 dB. Want to record loud sources like a guitar amp or a snare? Set +18 dB for an authentic SM7B sound or switch the preamp off completely. Recording a podcast or quiet vocals? Use the full internal +28 dB boost.
Bypass switch
A simple switch disables the integrated preamp so you can feed the microphone's unamplified signal to a professional mixer or audio interface. The microphone retains its distinctive sonic character. With the preamp disabled, the SM7dB performs like the original SM7B.
Wide frequency range
Whether the preamp is enabled or not, the proven dynamic capsule with a frequency response of 50 to 20,000 Hz always delivers detailed recordings. All highs and lows are preserved for absolutely natural sound quality.
Cardioid polar pattern
The cardioid pattern provides effective rear rejection and isolates your voice from ambient noise. This gives the SM7dB a warm, present sound in any environment. It is ideal for less‑than‑ideal podcasting and streaming setups.
High‑pass and presence boost
Like the SM7B, the SM7dB offers switches on the back of the microphone for different tonal characters to suit any voice or instrument. Use the bass roll‑off and presence boost to dial in your perfect sound.
