Strymon expands its extensive delivery program of high-end effect units with an amp and IR cab simulator/loader. Available are 3 amp icons: Round Amp - modeling the legendary Fender Deluxe Reverb, Chime - modeling the AC 30 Brilliant channel and Punch - modeling the British Plexi Top that has been in style for over 50 years. The amp sounds have been created using Strymon's proprietary Matrix Modeling, which meticulously takes into account all the peculiarities of the amp circuit. The input stage of the Iridium Pedal iat analog - a discrete JFET Class A input section is connected before the digital section.
In addition to the 3 amp simulations, 9 speaker IRs are available: Deluxe Reverb 1 x 12", Blues JR 1x 12", Vibrolux 2x 10", AC 30 2x 12" Alnico, 1x 12" Closed Back Celestion Alnico Box, Mesa 4x 12", 4x 12" Greenback 1971 Basket Weave Marshall MR 1960B, 2x 12" Celestion Vintage 30 Open Back Box and Marshall 8x 12" Box from 1965. Strymon used IR's from IR specialists Ownhammer and CabIR, both companies that have made a name for themselves with their top-notch IR's.
But that's not all - for room simulation a high quality digital reverb is on board. Own IRs can be loaded via the Strymon Impulse Manager software. For the tech geeks: inside the Iridium pedal, a SHARC processor with an ARM co-processor performs for the highest audio quality and latency-free real-time control. As usual with Strymon, a Favorite Preset can be stored, in conjunction with the optional MIDI EXP cable, up to 300 memory locations are available via MIDI, also MIDI real-time control over all pots and switches.

Don’t need an amp in my studio anymore!
Geiles Teil. Funktioniert super mit Kopfhörern, auch am Ende des Pedalboards für nachbar- und kleinkindfreundluches Spielen zu Hause. :)
Das Iridium ist für mich wie geschaffen, Einstellungen wie beim Amp. Keine 14 Ebenen mit Menüführung auf einem Minidisplay. Eine super Lösung zum Aufnehmen einer E-Gitarre.
Sämtliche Modeller der üblichen Verdächtigen, seien es Line 6, Headrush, neuerdings Mooer haben mich nie wirklich überzeugen können … ich bin dieses digitale Feeling im Sound nie so richtig losgeworden. Das Iridium hat es geschafft, teilweise irritierend gut … auch und gerade mit meinem hauptsächlich analogen Pedalboard. Und es bleibt. Vorerst im HomeStudio (am liebsten mit Studio-Headphones), kann aber nicht ausschließen, dass ich eines Tages meinen Amp zu Hause lasse. Antesten wärmstens empfohlen.
Ich verwende Modeller ausschließlich zum Spielen über Kopfhörer zu Hause (Nachbarn und so ... ;-) Hatte schon einige Geräte und bin seit ein paar Jahren beim Avid Eleven Rack hängengeblieben, mit dem ich eigentlich zufrieden bin. Jetzt dachte ich, da muss etwas Aktuelleres her. Leider klingt für mich das Iridium mit dem Kopfhörer gruselig und ich habe einige Kopfhörer und alle probiert. Den Hype um dieses Gerät kann ich gar nicht verstehen. Die Raumsimulation ist extrem muffig und topfig - kein Vergleich zum Avid und auch die Amp- und Boxensounds wenig organisch. Aber wie gesagt auf dem Kopfhörer und da ist manchmal das scheinbar schlechtere Gerät besser geeignet. Danke an Musik Produktiv für die unkomplizierte Rückabwicklung, normalerweise gehöre ich nicht zu denen, die etwas zurücksenden.
Viel erhofft im Soundvergleich zum Helix. Im Vergleich zu professionell erstellten IR Sounds vom Helix hat das Strymon deutlich das Nachsehen. Auch die Kompatibilität zu einem einfachen FlashbackDelay Pedal hätte ich mir verträglicher vorgestellt. Grundidee des Strymon gut, aber gleich wieder eingepackt und tschüss, braucht kein Mensch. Tolle Rückabwicklung von Musik Produktiv.
For ANY guitarist who cannot afford the money, time or effort to buy/programme a Kemper modeller, the Iridium is ESSENTIAL. Great into a PA or just for digital recording, this brilliantly replicates classic amp sounds and is SUPER easy to use. Strymon have done it again...
