Popular — now even better

Building on the entry-level FP-10, the FP-30X opens the door to the higher FP-X series. Stylish design and compact dimensions. The portable digital piano offers an enhanced sound engine, more built-in speakers and higher polyphony for improved performance. The FP-30X already features Roland SuperNATURAL Piano technology and uses the same expressive PHA-4 Standard 88-key keyboard as the FP-60X. Ideal as a home instrument for ambitious players.

Natural response and authentic sound

With the PHA-4 Standard keyboard the FP-30X stands out from other models. 88 full-size keys, hammer action, escapement simulation and an ivory feel deliver a playing experience similar to large acoustic instruments. The powerful Roland SuperNATURAL sound engine forms the basis for this authentic feel. Every nuance of piano playing is reproduced as naturally as possible.

Impressive sound

The FP-30X's built-in stereo speakers deliver surprisingly powerful tone and character. In combination with the sound engine they convey the full expressive range of piano playing. For larger audiences you can connect an external speaker system via the outputs of the portable piano. A dedicated mode optimises sound reproduction when placing the instrument on a table. Two headphone outputs allow shared silent practising, for example with a piano teacher.

Compact with potential

Thanks to its compact design and light weight, the FP-30X can be set up anywhere with ease. The digital piano can also be expanded without difficulty. For an authentic upright playing experience you can optionally purchase the KSC-70 stand and the KPD-70 pedal.

Bluetooth and USB

Use the Bluetooth and USB capability of the FP-30X for even more possibilities. Music can be played via Bluetooth Audio from mobile devices through the piano's speakers or headphones while you practise on the instrument. Besides using online lessons, Bluetooth MIDI lets you make a wireless connection to apps like GarageBand or Zenbeats. Your ideas can be recorded with the integrated recording function and later transferred via USB to a PC.

The FP series: portable pianos for every musical journey

The FP series combines mobile design, outstanding playability and professional features, and represents a modern generation of portable pianos. Groundbreaking sound engines combined with responsive keyboards – packed into slim, mobile bodies.

The FP-30X – the bestseller, improved once more

For years the predecessor FP-30 was, rightfully so, one of the best-selling instruments in this price segment. The combination of value for money, quality and equipment was simply convincing. The successor FP-30X now presents itself with detailed improvements and increased performance at the same price, making it an extremely capable stage piano for home and on the road.

More touch

The quiet PHA-4 Standard keyboard with 88 keys and hammer action, already known from the predecessor, is simply unbeatable in this price class. It already features a touch-point simulation uncommon at this price and an Ivory Feel surface. The hammer weights are graded to emulate the lighter treble and heavier bass hammers of an acoustic piano keyboard. That means excellent control over touch dynamics and key travel, with no after‑bounce or rattling when releasing the keys. The ivory-like key surface absorbs finger moisture, giving the player a grippy surface and excellent control.

The pedal setup can be adapted to each use. For mobile use, the optional single sustain (damper) pedal FP-10 (included: DP-2 footswitch) with half-pedal function is ideal.

For stationary use (in conjunction with the KSC-70 stand) the fixed pedal unit KPD-70 can be installed. This extends the FP-30X with the three-pedal setup of a grand piano.

More sound

The "Super Natural" sound engine has been doubled compared to the predecessor to 256-note polyphony, which means it can generate 256 tones simultaneously. This is advantageous when holding the sustain pedal so that all played notes can decay without any abrupt cut-off.

This — and the expanded selection of 12 piano and grand-piano tones, 20 electric pianos, 24 mixed sounds, plus GM sounds and drum kits — is unique in this price class and makes the FP-30X an extremely powerful instrument.

Furthermore, via the Bluetooth connection to a smartphone or tablet and the free "Piano Designer App" you can individually adjust an incredible number of acoustic characteristics of the piano sounds and thus tailor the sound character to your own taste and playing.

These include authentic string and damper resonance models, adjustable intensity of hammer release and damper noises – you can even set whether the lid of the simulated grand is open or closed.

Even in the smallest spaces the 12 cm speakers with 2x11 Watt reproduce the sound clearly and transparently. The speaker power is easily sufficient for small concerts or for lessons. A luxurious feature is the ability to adapt the speaker sound via sound profiles to the specific placement (e.g. table or stand).

Of course there are also two headphone outputs for a teacher-student situation – sensibly placed at the front left of the instrument so the cable routing does not disturb.

More contemporary technology

Instead of built-in extras, Roland fully relies on Bluetooth connections and USB ports.

Via Bluetooth audio you can play back backing tracks or online lessons from a tablet, smartphone or computer through the FP-30X speakers. Bluetooth MIDI is practical for connecting to contemporary external apps, such as "Roland Piano Every Day", which support the learning process, while connecting to DAW programmes like Apple Garage Band turns the piano into a small studio.

Since the FP-30X sound engine is designed to play MIDI files multitimbrally (several different sounds can be played simultaneously), the entire sound set can also be used for MIDI recording, composing and arranging on a computer.

Unlike the predecessor, the FP-30X can now send not only MIDI but also audio data over USB cable, which makes it easy to integrate the piano into the DAW of an audio computer. Of course, MIDI playbacks in SMF format can also be played via USB stick. Also new is the audio output for connection to mixers or speaker systems.

More mobility

All the technology of the FP-30X is housed in a pleasantly compact case.

At only 14.8 kg and 1.30 m wide, the FP-30X is comfortable and easy to transport. The matching optional CB-B88V2 soft case protects it during transport.

For those who mainly play the instrument at home and only transport it occasionally, the stable and visually more attractive setup with the optional KSC-70 stand in combination with the KPD-70 pedal unit is recommended. This gives you the feel and stability of larger upright models with less space requirement and greater flexibility.

Roland

Since 1972, Roland from Osaka/Japan has been a legend in building absolutely top-class synthesizers, keyboards, effects, amplifiers, e-drums and recording equipment and has been a leading force in the history of electronic instrument development.

Less well known is that Roland already built the very first electronic piano in 1974, presented the world's first digital piano in 1986 and is thus also the pioneer of the portable piano.

About Roland

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.
