Radial Engineering Voco-Loco
Product information "Radial Engineering Voco-Loco"
The Radial Voco-Loco is a studio-quality preamp for live applications disguised as a foot pedal! A look at the linear frequency response, the exceptional signal handling and the low noise shows the studio quality. This ensures that the dry microphone signal is passed to the PA system without distortion or artefacts and faithfully reproduces the instrument or voice without compromise. A carefully crafted 2-band EQ makes customising the sound very easy. Switching on the effects loop increases the isolation of the transformer to reduce hum and buzz caused by ground loops. This is a common problem that affects many pedal settings. Once the loop is restored, you can use a tone control to reduce the effect signal and a dry/wet mix control to equalise the signal accordingly. equalise the signal accordingly.
Connect any microphone to your guitar pedals
The Voco-Loco combines a microphone preamp with a guitar pedal effects loop, allowing a lead singer, saxophonist or trumpet player to add guitar pedals to their audio signal chain in the same way an electric guitarist adds effects for soloing. Simply connect your microphone to the Voco-Loco via the XLR input. Connect your effects pedals with standard guitar cables and send the output signal of the Voco-Loco to the input of your mixing console. You can then use the footswitch to assign an effect to each instrument or voice. The options are limited only by your imagination.
48 volt phantom power
Although 48 volts is often specified on equipment, it's not always 48 volts or needed. In fact, most condenser microphones are rated for 12 to 52 volts, many of which will work with a simple 1.5 volt battery. Considering that the Voco-Loco is likely to be used close to the musician with a 3 or 6 metre microphone cable, a phantom power of 48 volts is simply not needed. The Voco-Loco therefore actually "only" generates 40 volts phantom, not 48 volts. The reason for this is to reduce a power stage that can cause noise. We have tested a wide range of popular stage and studio microphones and in all cases the results were excellent.
