MXR M102 Dyna Comp Compressor

Product information "MXR M102 Dyna Comp Compressor"

With all devices, there are individual classics that have been used again and again over decades and have achieved real cult status over time. When it comes to compressors for guitar and bass, there is one piece that must be mentioned, and that is clearly the MXR M102 Dynacomp. As often as this device has been used in professional and sometimes legendary recordings, there is really no need for any further praise. What is striking is that the Dynacomp manages with just two controls! The Sensivity control is used to set the level at which compression is to take place, while the Level control determines the final volume. And Attack, Ratio, Release etc. ? The knobs that usually keep us guessing and trying for hours? The MXR Dynacomp simply doesn't need them, because everything is set so that guitars and basses simply come across as compact and crisp. Of course, you can also significantly extend the sustain with more extreme settings - what more could you want?

MXR, or MXR Innovations, was founded in 1972 by Michael Laiacona, Keith Barr and Tony Sherwood and is based in Rochester, New York. The first MXR effect pedal was the M - 101 MXR Phase 90, which was used extensively on the first two Van Halen albums, for example. Over the years, MXR has produced a myriad of different effects - even in 19" format - many of which have become classics, while others have faded into obscurity without a sound. MXR now belongs to Jim Dunlop, under whose direction the MXR classics are being reissued. However, there are also new MXR creations, including some "signature" pedals, most of which are slightly modified classics.
