About Ibanez AZ

The high-quality electric guitars from the Ibanez AZ series are aimed at both beginners and advanced guitarists who appreciate a modern look, exceptional playability and a commanding tone.

The various solid-body electric guitars of the series have been produced by Ibanez since 2018, but are already very popular today.

The reason is certainly the completely new body shape of the AZ series. If you look more closely at the body, you'll find similarities with the iconic ST shape, rather than with the otherwise typical Ibanez RG silhouette. Besides the body, the main difference between the RG and the AZ series is that most RGs are equipped with a double-locking Floyd Rose tremolo system, whereas the AZ series guitars come with a synchronized tremolo in Fender style without locking nuts. For equally fast and agile playability, even in the upper registers, the oval C-shape neck profile, the 12" fretboard radius and the neck-to-body transition are responsible.

The AZS series goes a step further and offers players, in addition to the already known characteristics of the series, tremolo and hardtail variants. Compared with other tremolo versions, both AZS models use a metal plate for the bridge pickup to obtain the typical clear, full and "twangy" tone that is so characteristic of this guitar family.

How popular the model range is is shown by the many artist models, such as Martin Miller, Andy Timmons, Mario Camarena, Marco Sfogli, Scott LePage and Tim Henson, that have arisen from the AZ series.

In 2021 the AZ series was expanded with the AZ-Essentials, (AZES) series. With this subseries, more affordable guitars are now also included in the lineup. The philosophy behind the AZES series is to make the tone, versatility and playability of this celebrated series accessible to a wider range of beginners and advanced players. To make playing the guitar and the learning process easier and more comfortable, the AZES series is equipped with a mono-unit output jack, a 250 mm fretboard radius and rounded comfort bridge saddles.

About Ibanez

The Japanese instrument maker Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass construction. Although Ibanez initially made a name for itself with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from makers like Gibson and Fender, its own series gradually emerged, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s the company became particularly well known in the heavy sector with instruments that stood out for their modern features, distinctive design and excellent playability. Innovations such as 7- and 8-string guitars, born from fruitful collaborations with artists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, further helped to establish Ibanez's strong reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, from entry-level guitars and basses to exotic Custom Shop models. In addition, Ibanez also impresses in the field of effects and amplifiers, as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. Here you'll find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
