Martin has been producing soprano ukuleles since 1915, modelled on the first ukuleles that emerged in Hawaii in the 1880s. This soprano ukulele model is the smallest ukulele we make. The top, back and sides are made of koa, a wood native to Hawaii and much loved by island players. The entire body is finished with a hand-rubbed, ultra-thin finish. The S1K Uke is a beautiful example of why Martin is still the name for ukuleles of the highest quality.

The name of the US company Martin Guitars, actually C.F. Martin & Co., Inc., has stood for the highest quality and innovation in the construction of stringed instruments since 1833. When people think of Martin they immediately think of the acoustic guitar, since the company founder and German emigrant Christian Friedrich Martin gave the instruments the form we still know and appreciate today. Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.
