The electric guitars of the RGD series are largely based on the popular RG series and yet Ibanez has managed to take it one step further to create the ultimate metal machine.
The demands of down-tuning require a specially developed response you won't find on "normal" guitars. To optimise the full, desirable thick tone that down-tuning produces, the neck was extended by one inch to a 26.5" scale length. This makes the neck of the RGD guitars longer than the standard, but not excessively long. As you're used to from RG guitars, the neck is still suited to fast soloing. Extra-deep cutaways give the guitarist comfortable access to the highest notes on the neck.
The Ibanez RGD series is currently produced in three different variants: RGD-Prestige, RGD-Axion-Label and RGD-Standard.
The RGD-Prestige series represents the absolute pinnacle. It combines precision, performance and playability in every instrument. To achieve real innovation in design and construction, the RGD-Prestige series combines high-tech manufacturing techniques with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The Prestige line relies on ideas and input from musicians around the world, which keeps the models constantly evolving.
The electric guitars from the RGD-Axion-Label range take established elements of modern electric guitar design and push them into new, less-explored territories. Similar to the Bass Workshop series – regarded as the tip of the iceberg – the Axion Label features exciting elements such as multi-scale design, state-of-the-art pickups from Fishman®, Bare Knuckle® and DiMarzio® and hardware innovations like the Evertune® bridge. All elements here represent the ultimate potential of this series.
The RGD-Standard series stands as a solid rock in the surf. The Standard series' features include all the cornerstones the Ibanez name is famous for. These include fast necks, soaring highs and high-octane distortion in one package.
The Japanese instrument maker Ibanez can look back on a long tradition in guitar and bass construction. Although Ibanez initially made a name for itself with idiosyncratic copies of traditional models from makers like Gibson and Fender, its own series gradually emerged, such as the Iceman, JEM, Artcore and RG. In the 1980s the company became particularly well known in the heavy sector with instruments that stood out for their modern features, distinctive design and excellent playability. Innovations such as 7- and 8-string guitars, born from fruitful collaborations with artists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Meshuggah, further helped to establish Ibanez's strong reputation. Today the manufacturer offers an extensive range, from entry-level guitars and basses to exotic Custom Shop models. In addition, Ibanez also impresses in the field of effects and amplifiers, as the classic TS9 Tubescreamer proves. Here you'll find a comprehensive selection of guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects and accessories from Ibanez.
