The Genelec 8340 is an active studio monitor from the SAM series (Smart Active Monitor). SAM means the speaker can adapt to the room acoustics. This is done using a measurement microphone at the listening position and the GLM software (Genelec Loudspeaker Manager). It uses the DSP filters in the speakers to reduce the room's unwanted influences.
There are 20 filters available, which can also be adjusted manually. Especially in rooms where the acoustics are problematic, the monitoring conditions can be significantly improved.
The high resolution and transparency of the playback guarantee relaxed, analytical listening. Automatic level matching and time-alignment make it easier to set up surround and 3D-audio systems.
The enclosure of the Genelec 8340 is made from die-cast aluminium. It is rigid and offers a large internal volume. Thanks to the bass-reflex technology the speaker delivers deep-reaching bass despite compact dimensions. The rounded cabinet edges improve imaging and spatial representation. The waveguide ensures linear dispersion and a wide listening area.
