The Electro-Harmonix Small Clone is a reissue of the chorus pedal Kurt Cobain used in creating Nirvana's grungy sound. The Electro-Harmonix Small Clone analogue chorus pedal delivers luxurious analogue chorus, a distinctive tone, and flexibility that sets it apart from similar guitar effects pedals. To produce the Chorus effect, the Small Clone bends the input frequency slightly and mixes this altered signal with some direct unaffected signal. The combination produces a doubling effect.
A Depth switch and Rate knob make this an easy-to-operate stomp box. Simple tweaks generate exciting doubling effects, chiming 12-string-style sounds or Leslie-like warbles. Its solid nickel steel case replicates the highly collectible original. The Small Clone operates on a 9V battery or optional AC adapter.
Chorus is a time-based effects where a slightly detuned and delayed version of a guitar signal is played back with the original which produces a doubling effect, which produces a thicker, lusher tone. The original effect was produced by the Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, though later effects would add multiple detunings and delays to produce a rich, glossy choruses. Andy Summers of The Police was quick to use the chorus effect, and it has only gotten more popular over the years.

Wer einen auffälligen aber nicht aufdringlichen Choruseffekt sucht, kann mit dem Small Clone nichts falsch machen. Der Effekt klingt in allen Einstellungen sauber und ordentlich - kein abgedrehtes oszillieren in ungewollte Weiten, begleitet von sich „überschlagenden“ oder ausschweifenden Klangwellen. Es ist einfach einer DER unverwechselbaren klassischen Chorussounds, der bis heute immer wieder von Musikern verwendet wird. Und, seit Erfindung des Small Clone, muss man, bevor man loslegt, den Fußschalter betätigen, damit es einmal kräftig geknackt hat ... ist einfach so. Für Qualität gibt es nur drei Sterne. a) wegen dem Fußschalter und b) weil ich schon nach einer Woche die Mutter der Anschlussbuchse wieder festziehen musste. Ich verwende den Small Clone dezent, um mein Gitarrensignal fetter zu machen und weil meine Musik eine leichte Modulation gut vertragen kann. Auch vor oder hinter einer Verzerrung macht er saubere Arbeit.
