The boutique effects‑pedal atelier Crazy Tube Circuits from sunny Greece has made a name for itself with unusual, high‑quality effect pedals. The TRIPTYCHON pedal is devoted to classic vintage fuzz, octave fuzz, treble boost and overdrive effects. It emulates a complete effect chain consisting of treble booster, fuzz and amp overdrive. The fuzz section is inspired by legendary fuzz icons such as the Fuzz Face, Vox Tone Bender, Solasound Tone Bender MK1.5 and MK II; on board is also an octave circuit à la Foxx Tone Machine as well as the cult Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster treble booster. Each effect section features relay‑based true bypass. Technically the Triptychon pedal is state of the art: for the fuzz section Crazy Tube Circuits uses "metal can" silicon transistors which, thanks to special circuit design, enable the characteristic germanium sound without the usual problems such as unpredictable responses to temperature and voltage fluctuations. Vintage fuzz boxes and treble boosters often react oddly to buffered pedals in the signal chain — Crazy Tube Circuits has integrated a switchable "Anti‑Buffer" circuit for these cases so the Triptychon pedal can be combined effortlessly with modern pedals. If you plug the guitar directly into the pedal input, you should deactivate the Anti‑Buffer circuit to preserve the classic interaction between guitar and fuzzbox (tone control and smooth clean‑up of the signal). An ideal addition for pedalboards in front of a clean amp.
