The built-in effect library of the PX-1 includes eight famous BOSS pedals, among them the three first models from 1977 as well as legendary drive pedals like the DS-1 and SD-1. The number "1" in the model name indicates that it was the first representative of its kind in the BOSS lineup.
OD-1
Over Drive
The OD-1 marked the beginning of a new era and made BOSS a pioneer of the overdrive category. Thanks to its asymmetrical clipping circuit, it delivers the coveted character of an overdriven tube amp – warm, powerful and rich in musical, even-order harmonics. Its natural, dynamic overdrive sound still sets the standard today and enjoys cult status among guitarists.
SP-1
Spectrum
A unique and versatile BOSS effect that boosts a user-selectable frequency band. Whether for more presence in solos, for the tonal refinement of overdrive and distortion pedals or for the characteristic "cocked wah" lead sound – the possible applications are virtually limitless.
PH-1
Phaser
The PH-1 delivers a warm, balanced phaser sound with a solid bass foundation. Thanks to its two knobs you can finely adjust a wide range of musical modulation effects.
SG-1
Slow Gear
This coveted BOSS original alters the attack phase of the signal and produces gently swelling tones with a violin-like character. Especially in combination with delay and reverb, the SG-1 reveals its full strength for ambient sounds.
CS-1
Compression Sustainer
As BOSS's first compressor pedal, the CS-1 differed significantly in its circuitry from the later CS-2 and CS-3 models. The optical design with an optocoupler produced a slow, particularly musical attack and gave the pedal its unmistakable tonal character.
TW-1
T Wah
The TW-1 produces a classic wah effect based on the input signal. Sensitivity and depth of the input filter can be adjusted via two knobs.
SD-1
SUPER OverDrive

At the beginning of 2025, Boss introduced some of its classic pedals as plugins for DAWs. The logical next step is the PX-1 Plugout FX Pedal, a live-ready version for guitarists and bassists. The PX-1 pedal is a platform for Boss effect plugins—eight classic Boss effect icons are pre-installed, including the legendary "Traffic Light" effect pedals OD-1, SP-1, and PH-1, as well as DS-1, CS-1, TW-1, SG-1, and SD-1. All effect parameters of the original pedals can be adjusted in real time using rotary potentiometers. The knobs have a push-switch function that allows you to quickly navigate between the individual modules. All parameters are displayed on an easy-to-read, illuminated LCD display. Additional FX plugins can be installed via the Boss Effect Loader app (iOS and Android) for a fee. CE-2, BF-2, PN-2, OC-2, PS-2, VB-2, DD-2, and DF-2 are in preparation. An optional 2-way footswitch can be connected via the CTL1,2, EXP jack, allowing you to switch between 2 plugins. Also included is a USB-C port for power supply, software updates, and direct plugin loading, as well as a TRS MIDI In jack for synchronizing time-based effects such as delay, etc.
