Audient iD48
Product information "Audient iD48"
Bigger, better and more powerful than ever before! The iD48 is the flagship of the iD interfaces for producers and engineers. It features eight Audient Console mic preamps, advanced 32-bit ESS converter technology and, thanks to the new switchable analogue insert technology, the iD48 seamlessly combines astonishing audio performance with user-friendliness. Together with essential professional features like ADAT expandability and configurable monitor control, the iD48 is ready to transform the studio experience.
The Audient Console preamp lets you level recordings optimally. It provides 68 dB of gain, extremely low noise and low distortion with a touch of classic analogue warmth. The 8 Audient Console microphone preamps of the iD48 deliver a clean, accurate and source-faithful translation of audio.
This is the same fully analogue, discrete microphone preamp circuitry used in
Audient’s renowned ASP8024-HE recording console. No emulations, no copies, just genuine analogue console microphone preamps.
The 32-bit ESS DAC converter technology minimises quality loss and maximises performance during conversion, ensuring the sound is cleaner, clearer and more precise than ever. And with a dynamic range of 126.5 dB, subtle details are easier to hear, allowing problematic areas to be identified more quickly.
With its D-Sub connectors the iD48 provides eight fully balanced inserts that allow preferred outboard effects to be inserted before conversion — for the cleanest and clearest signal path possible. Perfect for stem mixing and print-backs. And for the first time the iD48's switchable insert routing allows you to choose the source that feeds the ADC path. You can select whether the Audient mic preamp or the DAW outputs are sent to the outboard, per channel, all without plugging or unplugging cables. And when recording external analogue microphone preamps, the iD48 returns can bypass the Audient mic preamp to provide a very clean and direct conversion path for recording.
The iD48 is not only a powerful USB-C audio interface, it also offers everything needed to control studio monitoring. Speakers or other monitoring hardware can be connected via the main and alt speaker outputs as well as the additional line outputs.
Two completely independent stereo headphone amplifiers, with a dynamic range of 124 dB and enough power for headphones up to 600 ohms, provide the confidence to mix over headphones.
With the configurable function buttons, any of the iD48’s powerful monitoring features
such as Speaker Select, Dim or Mono Sum can be assigned to the two dedicated hardware function buttons.
The iD48’s innovative talkback technology can also be used, allowing a USB microphone or the computer’s built-in microphone to be used as a dedicated talkback mic, freeing the mic preamps for recording.
Together with a free suite of creative software such as Cubase LE, and industry-leading plugins and virtual instruments, you can start recording straight out of the box.

Through its innovative, award-winning products in recording and production, the British manufacturer Audient has built a large worldwide following over recent years. The company, founded in 1997 in Hampshire, is now regarded as one of the leading names in professional studio technology. Known for its uncompromising quality and workmanship, Audient offers outstanding sound quality as well as distinctive, elegant design at remarkably affordable prices.
High-end products such as the analogue consoles ASP4816 and ASP8024HE, and the 8-channel mic preamp/A‑D converter ASP880, are already considered modern classics and have found their place in numerous top studios around the globe. It is therefore no surprise that the British firm changed the game in the recording world with its very first audio interface. Unlike other manufacturers, Audient uses the same components, mic preamps and converters found in its top-of-the-line products across all its passionately developed products, regardless of price range.
