The company Artiphon was founded in 2011 by Dr Mike Butera in Nashville, Tennessee and is made up of designers, musicians and engineers from influential companies such as Space X, Blue Origin, Line 6 and Yamaha. Artiphon is committed to enabling a world where everyone can be musical and where music plays a central role in life. The Artiphon Orba is an intelligent combination of synthesizer, looper and MIDI controller that comes to life in the palm of your hand but can also easily disappear into your jacket pocket. With it you can create songs in no time or capture first ideas. The 8 touchpads respond to the lightest touch and also recognise a variety of gestures such as tapping, swiping and vibrato. Inside sits a 4-part polyphonic synthesizer with subtractive and physical‑modelling sounds, offering a wide range of drum, bass, chord and lead sounds. In addition, the accelerometer and gyroscope enable multidimensional movements like waving, tilting and shaking, ideal for controlling additional sounds and effects.
