Hohner Chrometta 12 C · Chromatic Harmonica

Chrometta 12, G-major Harmonica from Hohner

Chromatic harmonicas enable the player to perform music in all keys on one instrument. Actually they consist of two diatonic harmonicas in one, tuned a semitone apart - for example in C and C#. The slide button is pushed in to switch the airflow from one to the other, thus raising the pitch of each note by a semitone. By combining these two scales, all 12 notes of the chromatic scale are available (some of them twice), which opens up a wealth of new musical options to the player. Chromatic harmonicas can easily be distinguished from other harmonica models by the slide button on the right hand side. They are most commonly heard in classical music and jazz, but are also often used in blues, folk music and pop. All chromatic harmonicas feature tempered tuning.

The Chrometta is the ideal entry model for those approaching the chromatic harmonica for the first time. This inexpensive series boasts robust construction and a specially formed mouthpiece to facilitate single note playing. Available in four different sizes.

Hohner Chrometta
Experience the world of the Chromatic Harmonica

Many will have often heard a chromatic harmonica without realising it. Their versatility makes them ideal for folk and pop, but also for jazz and classical music. Hohner's Chrometta Series offers the perfect entry into this exciting world of musical richness, with the right instruments for every level of play. The four models differ only in their range, ranging from 2 to 3.5 octaves, but otherwise offer the same features.

The large channel openings and the protruding mouthpiece make it easier to play single notes on all models. The Chrometta 8 and 10 are particularly well suited for entering the world of chromatic harmonicas. For more experienced players, we recommend the Chrometta 12 or 14.
