Pitch-Shifter/Octaver

The Pitch Shifter is essentialy a waste product of a digital delay circuit. The input signal is taken such as a delay, but played faster or slower than the original. The result is a pitch shift - similar to a tape recorder if you change the playback speed. A distinction between pitch shifters, which can produce a rigid interval and intelligent Pitch Shifters that can produce a real 2nd and even 3rd voice. The classic Octaver adds a synthetic Octave or Suboctave to the original signal. Most octave pedals work monophonic, that means only single notes are processed, chords may not be recognized. There is also an Octaver that can also produce a high octave. In this variant, the signal passes through a ring modulator circuit as an Octave Fuzz. This circuit also operates monophonic but you can create interesting effects by playing fifths on two strings.
