The Selmer Reference 36 tenor saxophone is modelled on the vintage Balanced Action horn, built between 1936 and 1947. The round, full and centred sound is particularly rewarding for jazz saxophonists. The saxophone fits well in the hand, responds very cleanly and has excellent intonation. The sound is slightly dark, very full-bodied and powerful, truly leaving nothing to be desired. Made from a brass alloy with a high copper content, the Reference saxophones have a range up to high F#, are fitted with blue pointed-needle springs, genuine cork, black felt and pads with brown plastic resonators, and feature an adjustable metal thumb rest.
