MOTU - popular for original interfaces and converters in higher price ranges - now also offers interfaces for around 250 euros with the M series.
The MOTU M4 USB audio interface is the big brother of the M2 and a lightweight, handy four-channel unit. The two microphone preamps provide a maximum gain of up to 60 dB, switchable 48 V phantom power and the channels can be individually switched to direct monitoring. The ESS-sabre32-ultra converters are at the heart of the MOTU M4. These are already familiar from higher calibres, e. g. the Apogee Symphony. The noise floor is very discreet and the dynamic range is unrivalled. The USB driver enables a latency of less than 3 ms round trip - a great value for a USB audio interface.
MOTU Performer Lite and Ableton Live Lite are included in the scope of delivery.
MOTU M4 is versatile
The excellent sound and low latency are ideal for vocal recordings at home or on the road. Even live, the M2 is reliable, e. g. for playing backing tracks, software instruments or looping an instrument live through the DAW.

Auf jeden fall das Geld wert. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
Auch im Vergleich zu einem Saffire Clarett 2-usb hat das Motu M4 die Nase vorne, obwohl der Air-Modus desa Clarett tolle Ergebnisse liefert. Das MOTU ist kompakter, gehört rausch- und latenzfrei, easy-to-connect und arbeitet fehlerfrei. Die Anzeige ist top, die Anschlüsse ausreichend und funktional, und das Teil ist wirklich über usb stromversorgt, auch bei 48-V-Phantomspeisung. Sehr elegant ist die Mischbarkeit des Monitorsignals - kurz: Mehr als zufrieden, tolles Gerät.
Ein gutes Produkt, macht auch mechanisch einen stabilen Eindruck. Vorteil: kanalweise getrennt schaltbare Phantomspannung. Und eine erfreulich niedrige Latenz, um z.B. mit Jamulus online zu musizieren.
... und das sehr gut. Eine Schande ist, das Motu es nicht schafft zeitnah Anpassungen vorzunehmen, die die zB das 1248 für BigSur funktionsfähig zu bekommen. Das ist ärgerlich!
Got this to replace a Focusrite Saffire 6 that still technically worked but had developed enough bugs and eccentricities I couldn't take it any more. Has significantly better stereo clarity than the Focusrite, with a nice illusions of sounds being arranged around my face in a fan. Very clean sound. Gorgeous screen. Rock solid stability and easy to set up. One of the best bits of music equipment I've bought.
Sehr rauscharm und ein guter Klang. Leider Probleme bei Verwendung eines USB-C-Kabels am iMac, was aber wohl nicht am Gerät selbst liegt, da es mit dem beiliegenden Adapterkabel USB2 auf USB-C hervorragend klappt.
Hatte vorher das Steinberg UR22 MK2 welches mir gute Dienste leistete . Benötige aber ein Interface mit 4 Ausgängen. Die Wahl viel auf das Motu M4. Der Klang und auch die Bedienung (großes Lautstärke Poti) ist einfach besser. Bin sehr zufrieden, Klare Kaufempfehlung!
