Mesa/Boogie Badlander 50 1x12 Combo

Product information "Mesa/Boogie Badlander 50 1x12 Combo"

With a slightly slimmer sound and weight profile, the Rectifier® Badlander™ 50 holds its own and adds its own sonic character to the series. It sounds even more aggressive, but still feels inviting and effortless and can be used where less output power is required.

Two identical channels feature the same three new dynamic and duplicated modes as its 100-watt counterpart. The CLEAN, CRUNCH and CRUSH repeats deliver the gain, shaping power and immersive personality to drive most ensembles and virtually any recording environment.

Here in the Badlander 50, the 2-channel preamp features two distinct and perfect power shifts that enhance everything from clean to clipped to wildly saturated. The 50-watt setting delivers fat authority and maximum headroom, while the 20-watt setting has the power amp tubes switched to triode operation. This results in greater clipping potential and a medium-fast, overtone-rich response with the typical EL34 tone.

CabClone IR with 8 Mesa Virtual IR speaker cabinets on board

The Badlander 50 is also a pickup's dream come true. It features our first onboard CabClone™ IR and offers seamless DI with channel-specific IR assignment of the eight virtual speaker cabinets and a Reactive Load that sounds and feels great. Combined with the 50's new sounds and clip-friendly power range, the result is the most versatile and recordable Recto ever, even in "silent mode"!

The CabClone IR offers a whole new level of flexibility, portability and convenience previously only dreamed of. You now have the ability to work directly and silently or with your speaker cabinet, for recording, on stage or practising through headphones. With instant access to eight real MESA speaker cabinets miked in a professional environment, with more storage space in the library. It really doesn't get any better than this when it comes to achieving consistent sound regardless of the venue. With or without a speaker cabinet, it's up to you.

The integrated, channel-mappable CabClone IR Virtual Cab Simulator Reactive Amp Load is pre-installed with the following eight Authentic MESA Virtual Cab IRs:

4x12 Rectifier Standard (closed back)

4x12 Rectifier Traditional (closed back)

2x12 Rectifier Horizontal (closed back)

1x12 Rectifier (closed back)

1x12 Thiele (closed back, front connection)

2x12 Lone Star (open back)

1x12 Lone Star 23 (open back)

1x12 California Tweed 23 (open back)

The CabCLone IR was designed as an open system and is compatible with selected third-party IRs. A simple USB connection allows open access to download, store and use your favourite IRs with capacity for additional library storage. A USB 2.0 A to B connection cable (not included) is required to manage the IR file directory.

50 or 20 watts at the switch

The Badlander 50 is equipped with our patented Multi-Watt™ power switch, which offers two power settings: a full power setting of 50 watts that runs both EL34s, and a half power setting reconfigured for the triode circuit that produces 20 watts of clippable sweetness that also runs the output tube pair. Each has its own advantages and character. But together they offer almost limitless possibilities when you consider the combinations with the available preamp modes, their gain structures and selectable sounds.

About Mesa/Boogie

In the late 1960s Randall Smith, one of the most famous amp repairers in the San Francisco Bay Area, was inspired to build his own amplifiers after developing a fondness for the tweed circuits of the 1950s. He loved their organic sound, the effective controls and the way the tone gently moved from clean to distortion and back again when the gain control was used.
To push forward with his own amplifier designs and concepts, he settled in Pentaluma, California in 1969 and worked on further developing his amps.
The characteristic, heavily distorted sound of his Mesa/Boogie amplifiers was initially the result of an electrically mis‑dimensioned preamp. Founder Randall Smith wasn’t sure whether the preamp’s output would be enough to drive the power amp, and he built it with four twin triodes, of which the first seven triodes are still used today to amplify the input signal.

Many years later Mesa/Boogie has grown into one of the major global players in the market for high‑end guitar and bass amplifiers and is a leader in the development of modern amp designs and circuits. The American company also holds several patents on special features and circuits, such as Multi‑Watt™, Dyna‑Watt™ and the Mesa CabClone™ cab simulator, which you’ll certainly come across when browsing our selection of Mesa/Boogie products.

Of course, a maker of such innovative and high‑quality products has by now also gathered a large fanbase among professional musicians who got hooked on Mesa/Boogie amps. The best known users of Mesa/Boogie amps include the already mentioned Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, Angus Young, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, Keith Richards, Pete Townshend, Adam Jones, Mark Tremonti and Dave Grohl. Of course these aren’t the only famous Mesa/Boogie users, and Mesa/Boogie also boasts a large and steadily growing following among studio musicians and hobby guitarists. Maybe you’ll soon be part of the next generation of the Mesa/Boogie fan community?
