Martin D-28
Simply legendary
For almost a century the Martin D-28 has been built almost unchanged. With its characteristic Dreadnought shape it is the US emblem of a traditional western acoustic guitar. An icon, in other words! No wonder — countless musicians still swear by its formidable sonic power with full, round basses, a characteristic midrange and open highs. Martin has given the D-28 one improvement: the vibration behaviour of the Sitka spruce top is enhanced by the newly designed Forward-Shifted-Bracing. For modern playability the D-28 is equipped with a narrower nut and a slimmer neck profile. Even heritage brands like Martin respond to players' wishes and to the delight of their fans.
Famous Martin sound
Serving as the basis for its nuanced and powerful sound, this 14-fret Dreadnought acoustic guitar features a solid East Indian rosewood body. The beautifully grained Sitka spruce top is dressed with a faux-tortoise pickguard and a herringbone rosette around the soundhole, adorned with an astonishing 19 black/white inlays. Besides its full tone, the D-28 is comfortable to play. Contributing to this are the Dreadnought body shape and the low-oval neck profile with a nut width of 44.5 mm. The nickel-plated tuners with their Butterbean buttons are not only attractive; together with the compensated saddle at the bridge they provide tuning stability and clean intonation.
Inseparable
With its lively frequency spectrum, immediate response and high volume, the Martin D-28 is the perfect steel-string acoustic for dynamic picking in pop, rock and folk, as well as for playing powerful cowboy chords. If you choose a D-28, it will stay with you for life. The current models likewise underline the high craftsmanship of a Martin Made-in-USA acoustic guitar, making these wonderful and valuable instruments undoubtedly guitars for life.

Product information "Martin D-28"
Sometimes the innovation is in the details, and this is certainly true of Martin's reinvented D-28. After nearly a century at the helm and being the quintessential workhorse of music legends like Hank Williams, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and so many others, Martin's legendary D-28 has been lovingly and artfully refined. "The post-World War II D-28 looked a little different than its predecessor and became the centerpiece of the folk and folk-rock movements at their height in the 1950s and 1960s, " says Chris Martin, Chairman and CEO of Martin Guitar, "We've carved out the finest features of the D-28 from my grandfather's and my father's respective eras. The all-new D-28 combines the guitar's rich history with Martin's latest and most lauded innovations. The 184-year-old luthier has combined vintage appointments, including open tuners, an aged tonewood, antique white accents and a faux turtle pickguard with a new neck profile to give D-28 enthusiasts a modern feel and comfortable playing experience. Martin also added forward bracing to allow for greater top vibration. The legend just got even better!

The company C.F. Martin & Co., or simply Martin Guitars, can look back on a long company tradition and several innovative inventions. Chief among these is the development of the dreadnought shape and thus the steel‑string acoustic guitar as we know it today. With this, the family business, which spans over 175 years, has shaped the music world to this day. Innovations introduced by Martin that became standard in guitar making also include guitars with 14 frets clear of the body as well as X‑bracing. This allows greater stability and load-bearing capacity of the top (soundboard) thanks to strips glued to the inside of the top. To this day Martin guitars are renowned for their high quality and, of course, for their tone, and are very popular among guitarists. You can find a wide selection with us in the shop or in our branches ready to play.
