This specialised cable is a professional microphone cable for connecting a microphone to the stereo input socket of a recording device. The special wiring of this cable means (unlike normal microphone cables) that the mono microphone signal is present simultaneously on both stereo channels (left and right). This makes it particularly suitable for news reporting or location recordings, where it prevents the unpleasant effect of the speaker being heard from only one of the two speakers on playback.
