When Brian Wampler designed the Ego Compressor, the term "transparency" emerged again and again before his inner eye. Therefore, the Ego Compressor is designed in such a way that it does not discolour the basic sound in any way. With the Tone and Blend knobs, the effect can be set in such a way that it effectively works, but the signal path is completely pure and unaffected. The secret weapon is here the Blend controller. This controls the entire control path of the potentiometer between "no effect" and "full tube". Somewhere inbetween is exactly the point, which has exactly the amount of compression, to naturally tone the sound and, if necessary, extend the sustain, but without any loss of dynamics and attack. So far this has been just a dream, but with the Wampler Ego Compressor it has become reality. Combined with the Tone control (which adds the little sparkle you need to make a mix), one of those amazingly simple, but incredibly effective knobs is the choice of whether to use the pedal occasionally as an effect, or Quite simply always on.

er is niks aan te merken aan het pedaal zelf. hij werkt zoals het hoort en hij klinkt geweldig. enige nadeel was wel dat ik denk dat ik een showroom model heb gekregen dit aangezien de rubberen voetjes en de stickers (die er bij geleverd zouden moeten worden) niet in de doos zaten.
Nice fat compressor, very happy with it
Bin lupenreiner Amateur (Wohnzimmer-Gitarrist) mit mehreren Gitarren im Preissegment 600 - 1.300 €. Nachdem ich von einem 100 € Transistor-Combo auf den Röhrenamp Marshall DSL5CR umgestiegen bin, hole ich aus diesen deutlich mehr Sound heraus. Die Instrumente offenbaren viel mehr von ihrem individuellen Klangcharakter. Den Sound wollte ich nun noch durch einen Compressor verbessern. Ohne jemals so ein Teil selbst verwendet zu haben, habe ich mich nach umfangreiche Internet-Recherche für den Wampler Ego V2 entschieden. Mir fehlt zwar die Vergleichsmöglichkeit, aber der Wampler macht den Sound nochmals homogener, kompakter und fetter. Sustain nutze ich häufig bei Soli. Ich höre die Original-Musik über Stereo-Anlage u. begleite diese schlicht u. einfach mit meiner Gitarre, z.B. Pink Floyd, Oldfield, Queen, Dire Straits. Sehr geil! Unter´m Strich: Nicht billig, aber macht sehr viel Freude!
