The Walrus Audio crew has a knack for unusual and wacky effects pedals. The latest brainwave from the boutique pedal forge is the Melee pedal - a combination of high-gain distortion and reverb. The reverb section offers 3 reverb programs: ambient reverb, octave down reverb (similar to the dark mode of the popular SLÖ pedal), and reverse reverb with feedback. The kicker is the joystick, which allows for stepless mixing of the distortion and reverb portions (distortion level on the Y-axis, reverb portion on the X-axis). The order of the effects is switchable: either distortion reverb for conventional sounds or reverb in distortion for complex "wall of sound" soundscapes.The sustain footswitch can either set the reverb time of the selected program to maximum or freeze the reverb infinitely for cool ambient sounds. All this is wrapped up in the cool Walrus Audio artwork.
