In collaboration with renowned session and touring bassist Ian Martin Allison, Walrus Audio has developed a high-end bass preamp/DI. The Mantle preamp is based on the legendary circuit designs of classic Neve consoles and preamps. Key to the legendary sound are custom-made Saphire transformers - even high levels are reproduced without distortion, delivering a clean, powerful and low-noise signal. The 2-band EQ is also exceptional: "Dual Behavior Design", a blend of shelf EQ, bandpass and lowpass/highpass filter, controlled by detented pots with 11 detents each so settings are easy to reproduce.
The signal path of the circuit: Input - JFET Buffer - LPF/HPF or Dry Path - Input Transformer (-6 dB - +23 dB) - Boost EQ - Output Transformer. The 9 Volt DC input voltage is internally transformed to 24 Volts to achieve lower noise and increased headroom.
