The Walrus Audio crew has a knack for unusual and wacky effects pedals. The boutique pedal manufacturer's latest brainchild is the Melee pedal - a combination of high-gain distortion and reverb. The reverb section offers 3 reverb programmes: Ambient Reverb, Octave Down Reverb (similar to the Dark mode of the popular SLÖ pedal) and Reverse Reverb with feedback. The highlight is the joystick, with which the distortion and reverb components can be mixed continuously (distortion level on the Y-axis, reverb component on the X-axis). The order of the effects can be switched: either distortion reverb for conventional sounds or reverb in distortion for complex "wall of sound" soundscapes. The sustain footswitch can be used to either set the reverb time of the selected programme to maximum or to freeze the reverb tail indefinitely for cool ambient sounds. All in a classic black outfit.
