The Tone Secret from Vertex is the answer to the love–hate relationship countless guitarists have with that particularly screaming green overdrive pedal that originated in Japan at the end of the 1970s. The Tone Secret recreates the tonal DNA of the most famous users of the Green Screamer heard on countless studio recordings and live performances, without requiring a completely pushed amp to drive the pedal. It uses only 50% of the gain of a conventional green OD pedal. With the additional Pre‑Overdrive and Post‑Overdrive controls you can tailor the OD characteristics to any amp and simulate amp breakup without turning up the "DRIVE" knob on your pedal. We’ve also added separate controls for treble and mid frequencies as well as our GRIT control to set the balance between the amp and the overdrive produced by the Tone Secret.
