Vandoren Java reeds were developed in 1983 for jazz and pop music. A larger cut and a more flexible tip than on traditional reeds allow vibrations over a larger surface with maximum flexibility. This kind of backbone gives the player more flexibility in performance, as the resulting range of elasticity is very wide. JA stands for Jazz, VA for Varieté (entertainment music) and, of course... Vandoren.

About Vandoren
Since 1905 the Paris-based company Vandoren has been selling high-quality reeds for clarinet and saxophone, as well as mouthpieces and accessories. Eugène van Doren, the founder, was a clarinettist himself and knew exactly what mattered in reed production. He soon manufactured not only for himself and his colleagues but for clarinet and saxophone players around the world, producing reeds in industrial quantities with machines he developed himself. His son and grandson continued the business and made it the trusted brand that wind players still rely on today when searching for the perfect sound.
