A new series to honour Taylor's history
We are pleased to present the new Taylor Legacy Collection featuring five acoustic models that honour Taylor's long company history. Three of them are redesigned rosewood/spruce models from the iconic 800 Series, which trace back to some of Bob Taylor's earliest guitars. The other two put Bob's flagship, the Grand Auditorium body, centre stage — the body that defined the modern Taylor sound. These two models are based on guitars from the 500 Series and 700 Series. Inspired by Bob's original designs, these retro models reflect the full sweep of Taylor Guitars' history by combining fundamental design elements with the key developments along the way.
Key features of the Legacy 714ce
The Legacy 714ce is a tribute to the innovative spirit that drove Bob Taylor's guitar designs in the early years. It is based on the Grand Auditorium body shape that Bob Taylor introduced in 1994. This model features a tonewood combination not found in the Taylor standard line: back and sides of Indian rosewood with a Top (soundboard) of Western Red Cedar, fitted with the same X-bracing used on the earliest Grand Auditorium guitars. The result is an exceptionally warm, mellow response with remarkable pick sensitivity that retains clarity in the treble range. Visually, this model reflects the understated aesthetic Bob favoured for his guitars three decades ago.
Equipment highlights include black binding with black and white pinstripes, fretboard inlays of green abalone shell with a matching three-ring rosette, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, a tortoiseshell-style pickguard, gold-plated tuners and a gloss body paired with a satin neck. The Legacy 714ce is fitted with LR Baggs Element VTC electronics and is supplied with a deluxe hardshell case.
