These Grand Auditorium models offer all the sophistication and comfort-oriented design elements that characterize Taylor's Builder's Edition collection. Beveled body edges, hand-friendly cutaways, and sloped armrests all create a seamless interaction between player and guitar. The duo includes two variants: one with a Honduran back and sides and an Adirondack spruce top, and another with a sinker redwood top. The density and high damping factor of Honduran rosewood make it a dream wood for the body. It offers a complex harmonic texture and blooming overtones, complementing the highs and rich bass response. Adirondack spruce offers a remarkable dynamic range with direct response without losing clarity or articulation. The magnificently striped sinker redwood produces a cedar-like warmth and a rounder, softer quality compared to spruce, with high volume and exceptional sensitivity.
Visually, the two Builder's Edition 814ce models present themselves in an elegant but understated look. A subtle Kona Edgeburst finish highlights the natural striking color of the Honduras rosewood on the back and sides. Both models feature an Edgeburst finish top and a glossy full-body finish. Other visual highlights include a smoky West African ebony fingerboard, a green abalone rosette with Indian rosewood, pearl Element fingerboard inlays with matching headstock logo, Indian rosewood pickguard, and Gotoh 510 tuners in antique gold. They come in a Taylor hard case.
