Seydel endorser Will Wilde is the inventor of this special tuning, which is particularly well suited to the harder gait of rock and blues rock music. Read here how Will Wilde came up with this tuning, which he has been using regularly for a few years now:
"I designed the "Wilde tuning" specifically for playing hard rock and blues rock on the harmonica. Even though I love the standard Richter tuning, I always found it frustrating when I wanted to play "rock guitar"-like licks, especially in the upper octave. The "Wilde tuning" fixes all the problems I had on the Richter, while retaining the bluesy 2nd position feel that all players know and love.
Whereas the traditional Richter tuning was primarily designed for playing major chords and the corresponding major scale in the first position, the Wilde tuning is specifically designed for playing in the minor pentatonic and blues scale in the 2nd position, equally across all three octaves!
I have always found the sound of the draw notes (and draw bends) to be fuller than the sound of the blow notes - the draw notes simply have more expression, a fatter sound and a more beautiful vibrato. With the "Wilde tuning" I can bend ALL draw notes (1-10) without exception and the fundamental is a draw note in all three octaves.
I think the "Wilde Tuning" is the configuration that every ambitious rock harmonica player has been waiting for! "

Die Will Wilde Tuning Harps sind eine gute Verbesserung zur normalen Diakonischen!
Ich weiss nicht recht, was ich von dieser Harp halten soll… Ich habe 4 Session Steels. Eigentlich mag ich das Modell nicht besonders. Es liegt mir nicht gut in der Hand und im Mund und es braucht mehr Luft. Aber Seydel schafft es mich immer wieder mit günstigen Low-Tunings oder Spezialstimmungen zum Kauf zu verlocken. Dass ich mir die «Wilde Tuned» zugelegt habe, liegt an 3 Dingen: - die krassen Videos von Will Wilde - Chromstahl ist einfach hygienischer - das Tuning wird nur von Seydel angeboten In der Praxis sieht es nach 3 Wochen so aus: - ich bin nicht Will Wilde und habe wohl doch nicht soooo viel Lust auf Umgewöhnungs-Üben - Chromstahl ist einfach mühsamer - das Tuning löst gewisse Probleme und schafft neue * + Was mir wirklich gefällt ist die Verdoppelung der 1. Oktave. Das geht geschmeidig +/- *Bei Stücken/Licks mit grossem Tonumfang, kommt es zu Bendings an z.T. unpassenden Orten, was seltsam tönten kann. Manchmal werden zuvor einfache Passagen in der 2. Oktave obermühsam. - Was mir gar nicht gefällt sind die Zieh-Kanäle 9 und 10. Hier hat das Bending bei meiner Harp nicht mehr viel mit Mundmotorik, sondern eher mit Leibesübung zu tun. Zwar kann ich die Bendings erreichen, jedoch kaum halten. Nach einigem Üben habe ich die Harp nun eher wieder weggelegt und zu den normalen Richter Harps gegriffen. Fazit: Ich würde die Harp nicht nochmals kaufen. Zwar schreibe ich sie noch nicht ganz ab, aber momentan fehlt mir die Lust mich mit dem Ding abzukämpfen. Ich bereue den Kauf aber nicht, denn mittlerweile stecke ich mehr denn je im Üben mit den normalen Richter Harps drin und weiss mittlerweile kaum mehr, was ich daran auszusetzen hatte. Overblows auf Kanal 6 lassen sich wirklich einstellen und erarbeiten. Persönliche Kaufempfehlung: Wie viele muss auch ich zugeben, dass mir die Seydel Harps nicht liegen, auch wenn ich sie aus optischen, vor allem aber aus hygienischen Gründen favorisieren würde. Am Schluss spiele ich 90% Hohner. Ich habe viele Hohner-Modelle, auch eine Crossover und eine Thunderbird (beide teuer und gut). Ich favorisiere und empfehle jedoch klar die Rocket Serie von Hohner: + Preis Leistungsverhältnis + schnelle Ansprache + voller Klang + bestes Handling (deutlich grösser als die Crossover, keine scharfen Kanten) + frische Optik + pflegeleichter, gut luftdichter ABS Kamm + wertige Tasche + Overblows auf Kanal 6 einstellbar/z.T. ab Werk Was will man mehr ;)
