The Session Penta has all the advantages of the Session Steel from Seydel. The "copper" comb makes the Session Penta a visual eye-catcher.
Pentatonic tuning:
In pentatonic tuning, the notes of the blues scale are distributed across the comb of the harmonica. This has the advantage that this scale can be played without the use of bendings. This is particularly practical for beginners, as they can get used to the sound of the blues scale and later, with bendings, transfer it to Richter tuning. This tuning is also ideal for guitarists, as it enables exciting melody lines without bendings.
For advanced players, the Penta is an interesting tuning, as all the drawbar tones can be bent on it, so that a lot can be tried out and experimented with.
However, the penta is not particularly suitable for chord playing, as there are almost no "normal" chords to be found on it. On the other hand, it is ideal for tongue splitting, e.g. in the octave range, as octaves can be played continuously in both the blow and draw directions if two intervening channels are covered with the tongue.
