The SPD-SX PRO is the ultimate sampling pad for the highest performance demands. It is based on years of practical experience and extensive user feedback from the SPD-S and SPD-SX models and raises the bar for sampling pads even higher. The SPD-SX PRO expands the pioneering pad technology of its two predecessors with numerous professional functions and improvements and accompanies you everywhere with its robust housing. Thanks to the large colour display and customisable, multi-coloured trigger lights, you'll always find your way around even on dark stages. In addition, the SPD-SX PRO offers a massive 32 GB of memory, 48 kHz audio playback, improved pad sensitivity without crosstalk and the SPD-SX PRO app for particularly convenient kit editing.
Adjustable LEDs mark the pad edges
When the light goes out, the PRO shines all the brighter. With the individually adjustable LED and trigger lighting, you can recognise all nine pads even on dark stages - goodbye gaffers! Assign one of ten preset colours to each vertical or horizontal LED light. Of course, you can also define and name colours yourself. Group kicks, snares, backing tracks and clicks with their own colours. You can also set the horizontal pad lights so that they light up permanently, only when a pad is hit or dynamically according to the assigned WAV file.
Extremely responsive pads
There are nine robust pads on the SPD-SX PRO. The three shoulder pads in the top row feature revised sensors for increased touch sensitivity and consistent sounding hits - regardless of the placement and orientation of the SPD-SX PRO. In addition, the crosstalk protection has been optimised to prevent accidental triggering of adjacent pads. Owners of an SPD-SX will notice that the dimensions of the SPD-SX PRO are almost identical. This means that old bags, cases and other accessories can still be used without having to buy new equipment.
LCD colour display
No more fear of dark stages! The SPD-SX PRO has a large 4.3'' colour display with backlit buttons, tabs and a jog dial for lightning-fast sound selection. The screen displays basic information in real time, including A & B sample layers, WAV sample names, sample playback progress and more.
Memory & Sounds
Too little memory? These worries are now a thing of the past. With 32 GB of internal memory, the SPD-SX PRO offers space for around 44 hours of stereo audio in high-resolution 48 kHz / 16 bit. What's more, you don't need to bother with the tedious conversion of your source formats. Whether WAV files in 48/44.1 kHz, AIFF or MP3 with different bit rates - the SPD-SX PRO converts everything into its native 48 kHz / 16 bit audio format, saving you a lot of time.
Extended audio outputs
The SPD-SX PRO has two balanced stereo master outputs - left and right. By combining these with the four assignable mono outputs, you have six audio paths available to play any pad via any output and mix flexibly if required. There is also an assignable stereo headphone output for customised monitoring setups.
Internal samples and sounds
The SPD-SX PRO offers 1,550 high-quality sounds and 200 kits (43 erasable preset kits and 157 user kits) straight from the factory. The processor power of the SPD-SX PRO ensures that you can change kits even in the hustle and bustle of a live performance without the sound being cut off. A creative force
An outstanding live show requires a lot of preparation. The SPD-SX PRO offers numerous features to prepare your gigs perfectly. Load and manage your sounds in a specially developed app, let your creativity run wild with four effect engines and connect a hi-hat controller or an expression pedal. The extended trigger inputs and the integrated 16-step sequencer offer even more possibilities.
The app
If you have almost unlimited sounds at your disposal, you need to be well organised. With the SPD-SX PRO app from the Roland Cloud, you can import audio files and edit sound and playback parameters via USB on your computer. Drag and drop samples, assemble kits, customise settings and name sounds and kits to your liking. Use the same USB connection to transfer eight audio channels plus MIDI to your computer simultaneously and record them in a DAW.
Expression Control
The SPD-SX PRO's extended trigger inputs give your hands (and feet! ) even more possibilities. When you combine all pads, external triggers and footswitch inputs, you can play on a total of 19 surfaces. Connect a hi-hat controller, for example the Roland VH-10 V-Hi-Hat, and vary between open and closed hi-hat. Add snare and kick pads to the pedal and play on a mini-drumset. Alternatively, you can connect an expression pedal to control effects in real time.
Effects and sidechain
Discover the extensive possibilities for optimising and colouring sounds with high-quality effects. The four MFXs offer everything you need: from modulation, distortion and filter effects to delays and reverbs. You can assign any effect to any pad or external trigger input in your kit. A master compressor, EQ and other effects are available for processing the overall sound. Thanks to sidechain compression, you can also ensure that kick drums and other powerful sounds are not drowned out in the mix.
Simple mixing
A balanced stereo main output plus four balanced direct outputs - it's never been easier to have your mix under control on stage. Connect up to eight single zone triggers in mono or four stereo head and rim triggers in stereo. In combination with the external trigger inputs and connections for hi-hat controllers and footswitches, you have a total of up to 19 different playing surfaces at your disposal.
16-step pad sequencer
Speed up your performance preparations with the integrated 16-step pad sequencer. Assign between 2 and 16 steps to each pad within a kit. You then define the playback sequence for the individual pads in your selected sequence. You don't need to remember where each individual sound is located - once programmed, hitting the respective pad triggers the sequence. It couldn't be easier to produce your live shows.
Click track
As a drummer, you have the task of setting the beat for a performance. With the flexible integrated click of the SPD-SX PRO, you can keep the beat at all times. Any sample can be used as a click sound. You can also customise the pitch. You can then start the click via a pad, a button or an external trigger pad. You also have everything under control during playback. Specify whether the click is switched on and off by further hits, only sounds once per hit or is retriggered with each hit.
Editing pads
With the pad edit controllers, you can quickly and easily customise samples. Control the volume and pitch in real time using dedicated controls. You can also use a button to change the attack and release times in the transient settings of a pad. You can also use the SPD-SX PRO's colour display to access additional parameters and adjust samples in even greater detail.

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.

Worth every cent. I own spd-sx as well,but I have absolutely no regrets in upgrading to PRO version.
