The Roland GAIA 2 is a pioneering synthesizer with a newly developed hybrid sound engine and a clear front panel that lets users quickly and easily familiarise themselves with the possibilities of sound generation and design. Equipped with wavetable and virtual-analogue oscillators, interactive controls, 37 full-size keys, Model Expansion support and other powerful features, the GAIA 2 offers a boundless universe of inspiring sounds.
With the diverse synthesis tools you can create both familiar sounds and entirely new, unheard textures. The wavetable oscillator goes a step further than previous concepts and can morph between different waveforms, ranging from dramatic transitions to slowly evolving textures. The synthesizer also offers unique options for phase and shape modulation to distort waveforms and create novel textures with complex overtones. The wavetable oscillator is complemented by two virtual-analogue oscillators, which let you reinterpret classic sounds as well as design the sounds of the future. The GAIA 2's possibilities range from smooth vintage tones through cutting leads to sci-fi soundscapes.
Furthermore, the Roland GAIA 2 supports Roland Model Expansions – faithful recreations of legendary synthesizers from Roland's long history. With a single dedicated button you can switch seamlessly between the integrated sound engine and classics like the JUPITER-8 or JUNO-106. In addition to the preinstalled SH-101 Model Expansion, numerous other synthesizers and accompanying sound packs are available in the Roland Cloud.
The logically structured front panel of the GAIA 2 invites experimentation and discovery of its sonic worlds. The layout follows the principle "one control per function". Together with the informative display, the panel enables intuitive and creative work without constantly diving into menus. The synthesizer also impresses visually with its elegant knobs and white-anodised aluminium surface.
The Roland GAIA 2 features a Motional Pad with touch control that brings static sounds to life. Almost any synthesizer or effect parameter can be assigned to the individual X/Y points and morphed between them via finger movement on the pad. It is also possible to record movements to create complex, modulated transformations.
With the GAIA 2's intuitive sequencer you can capture inspiring moments and realise even the boldest ideas. There's also a cool random-pattern function to generate new ideas through random pattern creation.
The Roland GAIA 2 includes numerous classic Roland effects to take your sounds to the next level. Choose from over 50 MFX types as well as a dedicated chorus section that adds body and space to your sounds. The powerful reverb/delay section includes a new studio-quality shimmer reverb and many other high-quality effect types.
With its USB-C connector the Roland GAIA 2 becomes an audio/MIDI interface for music production on a computer, tablet or smartphone. The class-compliant connection works plug-and-play without additional drivers. There is also a USB-A port for connecting a USB flash drive for data backups or a USB-MIDI controller for extended control.

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.
