Product information "Roland Boutique JD-08"
With the Roland JD-08, another classic finds its way into the Roland Boutique series. As the name might suggest, it was inspired by the legendary JD-800. The JD-08 combines the original waveforms of the JD-800 with advanced modelling technologies. A total of 108 original waveforms are available for extensive patch design. In addition to 64 presets from the original JD-800, 21 new presets have also been added. In addition to the arpeggiator, a two-part polyphonic 64-step sequencer with motion recording, pattern randomiser and 128 pattern memory locations is also on board. The JD-08 is dual multitimbral and offers an extended polyphony compared to the original. Connected to the computer via USB-C, the JD-08 also serves as an audio/MIDI interface. It is powered either via USB or alternatively with 4xAA batteries. A mini speaker is also integrated.

Roland was founded as a manufacturer of various musical instruments and studio equipment on 18 April 1972 in Osaka, Japan. Among the earliest products to reach the market were the first rhythm machines of the TR series, whose successors TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909 had a decisive influence on the techno, electro and hip-hop scenes. In the mid-1970s the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier was developed, whose ultra-clear sound together with the built-in chorus effect won over both Andy Summers of The Police and Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica. Since then and to this day Roland have continuously expanded their catalogue across a wide range of fields such as digital pianos, grooveboxes, e-drums and synthesizers with high-quality and interesting products.

I Always loved Roland sounds, but being able to layer up to 4 sounds per part ( 2parts = 8 layered sound), makes this synth quite unique. I played around with it for a few weeks now and i'm still discovering new things.
