MESA / BOOGIE has reworked the well-known and proven dual and triple-rectifier models to make them even more versatile. In doing so, meticulous comparisons were made with the direct predecessors as well as with the older 2-channel versions. The aim was to preserve all the nuances that made the Rectifier a legend and to further improve it.
New Features:
- Multiwatt circuit: per channel can be pre-selected between 150 W and 50 W Class A/B.
- Tube or diode matching: Can now be pre-selected for each channel to adjust the feel and character of each channel.
- Effect Loop: Instead of a parallel effect path, the Dual / Triple Rectifier now also features an improved serial effect path. Many of the current effects are preset or even designed for serial effects.
- Tuner output and muting (tuner mute) via foot switch
- New, compact foot switch design in 2 rows. Upper row: MUTE, FX LOOP, SOLO. Lower row: Channel 1, 2, 3
- Improved clean and pushed modes in channel 1. Clean mode has been optimised with a more dynamic headspace (headroom) for clear clean sounds even with "hot" humbuckers. The pushed mode has also been reworked: firmer, percussive sound in the lower gain range, up to the crunch at high gain settings.
- Channel 2 and 3 have been reworked to harmonize with all 3 modes (the PRESENCE control range was optimised in channel 2 for RAW and VINTAGE mode, channel 3 was optimised for MODERN mode)

In the late 1960s Randall Smith, one of the most famous amp repairers in the San Francisco Bay Area, was inspired to build his own amplifiers after developing a fondness for the tweed circuits of the 1950s. He loved their organic sound, the effective controls and the way the tone gently moved from clean to distortion and back again when the gain control was used.
To push forward with his own amplifier designs and concepts, he settled in Pentaluma, California in 1969 and worked on further developing his amps.
The characteristic, heavily distorted sound of his Mesa/Boogie amplifiers was initially the result of an electrically mis‑dimensioned preamp. Founder Randall Smith wasn’t sure whether the preamp’s output would be enough to drive the power amp, and he built it with four twin triodes, of which the first seven triodes are still used today to amplify the input signal.
Many years later Mesa/Boogie has grown into one of the major global players in the market for high‑end guitar and bass amplifiers and is a leader in the development of modern amp designs and circuits.
