The Meinl Sonic Energy Octave Steel Tongue Drum is crafted from high-quality stainless steel.
It features a central bass tone in the middle, surrounded by eight additional notes. These eight tone fields each consist of two tongues that produce the note across two octaves. The result is a beautiful, meditative sound reminiscent of a handpan.
On the underside of the drum is the soundhole, which can be closed with a silicone plug to make the sound more compact. There are also three silicone feet on the base to prevent the drum from slipping. You can play the Octave Steel Tongue Drum with mallets or, if you prefer, with your fingers. Simply place the drum on a flat surface or on your lap to start playing.
Included: two wooden mallets with rubber heads and a nice carry bag with zipper and handle.
Meinl Sonic Energy
The Meinl Sonic Energy series comprises an impressive selection of planetarily tuned gongs and instruments, including tam tams, sound bars, tuning forks, singing bowls and bells. In addition to the instruments themselves, you'll find a wide range of accessories in our online shop such as carry bags, stands, covers, mallets and care sets. All instruments in the Sonic Energy collection are handcrafted masterpieces from the renowned maker Meinl, intended for esoteric purposes and primarily used in meditation, sound massage, yoga and sound therapy. The instruments aim to bring life into harmony with the cosmic universe. Both the gongs and the sound bars, tuning forks and some tam tams are made by hand in the traditional European way and are "Made in Germany". They are precisely tuned to the frequencies of the moon, the sun and the planets. For production Meinl draws on the calculations of Swiss mathematician and musicologist Hans Cousto, who discovered the natural law of the cosmic octave in 1978. Frequencies are determined using calculations based on the rotation and orbital periods of the planets. Each tone reproduces the associated frequency of the celestial body to create a specific effect. Overall, the instruments in the Sonic Energy series are tuned to 16 different frequencies: from the sun, the earth and the moon, through Neptune and Saturn to the Platonic Year and the synodic day.
