Product information "Martin D-18 Authentic 1937"
This reproduction of a 1937 D-18 from the Authentic Series stays true to the original, featuring a hide glue construction and historically accurate details. The back and sides of this guitar are genuine mahogany, the top is Adirondack spruce, and it features an authentic bracing pattern from around 1937. In addition, it has been treated with the Vintage Tone System, which ages the wood to reproduce the sound of an old Martin. Martin's craftsmen are able to recreate the appealing visual aesthetic of a vintage guitar and reproduce the distinctive tone that was once the preserve of vintage instruments. Martin has now reintroduced a more precise body profile based on the dreadnought shapes from the early Golden Age of Martin history. The result is a tactile, visual and acoustic experience that transports you straight back to the 1930s. And we're sure you'll love it there!

The company C.F. Martin & Co., or simply Martin Guitars, can look back on a long company tradition and several innovative inventions. Chief among these is the development of the dreadnought shape and thus the steel‑string acoustic guitar as we know it today. With this, the family business, which spans over 175 years, has shaped the music world to this day. Innovations introduced by Martin that became standard in guitar making also include guitars with 14 frets clear of the body as well as X‑bracing. This allows greater stability and load-bearing capacity of the top (soundboard) thanks to strips glued to the inside of the top. To this day Martin guitars are renowned for their high quality and, of course, for their tone, and are very popular among guitarists. You can find a wide selection with us in the shop or in our branches ready to play. In our Martin Premium steel‑string acoustic guitars section you'll also find a selection of the finest acoustic guitar models from all Martin series.
The name of the US company Martin Guitars, actually C.F. Martin & Co., Inc., has stood for the highest quality and innovation in the construction of stringed instruments since 1833. When people think of Martin they immediately think of the acoustic guitar, since the company founder and German emigrant Christian Friedrich Martin gave the instruments the form we still know and appreciate today. Among the company's inventions are the special bracing (X‑bracing), the neck join at the 14th fret and popular body shapes such as the dreadnought guitar.
In our range you'll find, alongside classics such as the D-, OM-, J- and 000‑models, also Custom Shop and signature models by renowned artists like Ed Sheeran, Eric Clapton and John Mayer. We also carry the popular Martin Backpacker Steel and the Little Martin.
