1937 was an outstanding year for guitars, with a perfect storm of craftsmanship, innovation and materials. This reproduction of a 1937 D‑18 from the Authentic series stays true to the original, with hide‑glue construction and historically accurate details. The back and sides of this guitar are genuine mahogany, the top is Adirondack spruce, and it features an authentic bracing pattern from circa 1937. It is also equipped with the VINTAGE TONE SYSTEM® (VTS), which ages the wood to reproduce the sound of an old Martin. Martin’s craftsmen are able to recreate the appealing visual aesthetic of a vintage guitar and reproduce the special tones that were once reserved for vintage instruments. Martin has now reintroduced a more precise body profile based on the dreadnought shapes from the early Golden Era of Martin’s history.
