One thing in advance: the Kernom Ridge is not a modeling pedal! The French manufacturer Kernom is breaking completely new ground regarding overdrive and distortion. The core of many overdrive circuits usually consists of diodes - different types such as germanium, silicon etc. either symmetrically or asymmetrically connected. The engineers at Kernom have developed a new clipping method – Augmented Analog – a circuit in which the response of various diode types can be morphed and modified in real time. This enables the Ridge Pedal to emulate various legendary overdrive and distortion circuits. The signal path is completely analog, the digital section is only used to control and manage the settings - 128 user memory locations are available via MIDI. The pedal's tone control is also unusual: one tone control is located before the clipping section, another after it. The Mid control allows you to fine-tune the important midrange of the overdrive section. The Mood control is unique, allowing you to seamlessly morph between the various diode variants (can also be controlled in real time using an optional expression pedal! ).
The pedal covers the range from light distortion to full-bodied crunch, high gain and fuzz, with very good dynamics and convincing sound. Ideal for emulating or replacing common distortion/overdrive pedals.

Man kriegt tolle und sehr unterschiedliche Sounds aus der Kiste, jedoch gibt es ein grosses Problem. Der Volume Regler ist so sensibel dass 1mm Drehung extrem viel ausmacht. Feinjustierung ist beinahe unmöglich, je nach Amp Level oder Gitarre ist das Gesamtvolumen plötzlich viel zu laut oder zu leise. Preset Volumen Anpassung ebenfalls sehr fummelig. Für live Situationen meines Erachtens leider nicht geeignet.
Kernom Ridge bietet eine Klangpalette von leicht Angezerrtem Amp Sound, Crunch, Screamerähnliches Klangbild, Overdrive, Distortion bis zum Fuzz. Der Preset Knopf ermöglicht mir, meinen Lieblings Solo Sound zu speichern. Ein wunderbares Analog Augumented Overdrive.
Les Paul, Strat, Tele, Gretsch, Fano - jede dieser Gitarren tönen mit dem Kernom Ridge einfach besser - von Boost, Clean, Crunch bis Lead. Ich höre Facetten, die bisher nicht da waren. Inspirierend! Ersetzt bei mir drei Boutiquepedale.

Absolut vielseitiges Overdrive Pedal mit reichhaltigen Klangestaltungsmöglichkeiten. Für den Preis unschlagbar gut . Wer Spaß am experimentieren hat und sich mit Midi auskennt, kann hier viele Sounds kreieren und speichern. In der Bühnenpraxis läuft es wahrscheinlich auf 2 Sounds hinaus, 1 x Preset und 1 x aktuell. Selbst dafür lohnt sich die Anschaffung. Da bei mir die Preset Funktion nicht funktionierte, musste ich es leider zurückschicken, sonst hätte ich es behalten.
